Arkansas is one of my favorite places to visit for a simple getaway trip. Since it’s close to our home in East Texas, it’s a stress-free drive. There are so many beautiful locations to chose from and I was happy to add Greer Lake to my list. Nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks in north central Arkansas, this 40,000 acres of beautiful lake is sure to impress your family. If your group loves water sports, fishing, or just hanging out on the lake, then you’re sure to enjoy it!
Sometimes, you just have to get together and go somewhere, that’s our personal and extended family’s motto. We all live very busy lives and since we are a large crew, it’s not always easy getting us all together. That’s why these short getaway trips have meant so much to me. It gives us all the chance to unwind, unplug, and relax while spending quality time together.
We found this amazing location on Greer Lake that was everything we wanted. We enjoyed family dinners outdoors while we grilled and the kids played. We spent time on the porch drinking coffee and catching up with each other. There were several intense monopoly games around the large kitchen table in the evenings. Oh, I can’t forget the many hours that were spent next to the fireplace playing with a bucket of Legos that were provided by the home owners (who knew Legos were for adults too).
I highly recommend getaway trips on the lake and I don’t just mean during the summer months. We visited Greer Lake during the winter and I loved how quiet the area was. Most of the rental homes were empty, which meant the cost to stay during off season was very affordable. Be sure to check out VRBO for rentals in the area. We hope your family is able to visit this beautiful lake!
