“This year I want to travel to _______.”
I’m looking forward to our future adventures in 2017. If you’ve been keeping up with us, then you know 2016 was packed with many different travel locations (Our Year Full Of Travel). I always keep a list of exotic and awesome destinations I want to visit; but this year I’m going to focus on something a little different. This year I want to travel to places closer to home. There are many reason why I feel passionate about exploring my home state, here are few:
Everything Is Bigger In Texas
Let’s talk just for a minute about just how BIG Texas really is. Did you know it would take me 11 hours to drive from my hometown in East Texas across the state to El Paso, Tx? Just to put that in perspective for you, I could drive from my hometown all the way to Destin, FL (visiting 5 states) in less time then it takes for me to make my way across Texas! Seriously ya’ll, (southern slang inserted for emphasis) Texas has a lot to offer.
History, Culture, Food and More
There are so many amazing cities to visit here in Texas such as Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, just to name a few. Each of these locations are steeped in rich history, mouth-watering cuisine, and amazingly diverse cultures. The opportunities to explore and learn about the Lone Star State are endless. Each of the destinations have something for the whole family to enjoy! And, of course, I won’t forget my local area here in the Piney Woods of East Texas, the rolling hills and tall pine trees are just a few reasons why this is such a beautiful part of the state.
Earlier, I mentioned the list of exotic and awesome places I’d like to add to my ‘Been-There-Done-That’ list of travel destinations. You may wonder what some of those are. Here are just a few:
Other places on my wish-list:
Peru to see Machu Picchu
Washington, DC to visit the Smithsonian
National Parks in California
Buena Vista, CO (again)
It’s important to set travel goals early in the year. It’s fun to research your destination ahead of time and know how to save for these travel adventures. Get the whole family involved in the discussion on the where, what, and when details.
